Screendance Africa originated out of a need to grow the medium of Dance on Screen when it was first formed in 2012 by Dominique Jossie and Jeannette Ginslov. Together they developed workshops. and screenings promoting Screendance from Africa until 2016.

In 2018, Dominique founded Screendance Africa ZA based in South Africa as the company continues to grow in film development and production.


Dominique Jossie is a, mom, dancer and award-winning filmmaker with ten years of experience working across documentaries, feature films, and television series. With roots in theatre, she studied Film, Media, and Drama at the University of Cape Town. Dominique directed the short film Rooilug which premiered at the Silwerskerm Film Festival and was nominated for 8 awards including Best Short Film and Best Director. She produced the dance documentary Rumba in the Jungle - The Return, now streaming on Amazon Prime Africa. She later produced the SAFTA award-winning short film Address Unknown and line-produced the South African feature, Barakat. Dominique is one of six writers for the first-ever Realness Netflix Episodic Lab and she is also a 2023 Film Independent Global Media Makers Fellow. She is currently producing her first feature film for Showmax with sister company Blended Films.
